All the Splendors of the Earth, part 2 Curated by Jeffrey Tranchell

Cave is pleased to open All the Splendors of the Earth, Part 2, an exhibition curated by Jeffrey Tranchell on Saturday May 29th 2010. The opening reception will be from 7-11pm and the show will be up through June 12th. The show includes the work of Gina Beavers, Zack Kitnick, Joshua Kolbo, Denise Kupferschmidt, Jeanette Mundt, Jeffrey P. Porterfield, Ryan Sullivan, and Ned Vena.

Last year Nolan Simon and I co-organized an exhibition for Center Galleries at The College for Creative Studies in Detroit, MI. Our hope was to give a loose cross section on a community of artists we felt a part of. Most were graduates of CCS and most are now living and working in New York City.

Since then I have somewhat hijacked the projects in order to curate this exhibition. The premise this time was to start with what I saw as the same community from before extended further into the community that had developed here in New York. There was also the decision to exclude any Detroiters, past or present, in favor of familiarizing the Detroit art community with more nonlocal artists, and familiarizing more nonlocal artists with the Detroit art community.

This exhibition is not intended to show any thematic curatorial vision. Other than their proximity to one another and myself the eight artists included in this show bear little similarities, neither conceptually nor stylistically.
